New Orleans Saints rise to the occasion, serve notice

Posted by UK Gift and top stories

Clinching the win
The Saints strutted into the Georgia Dome, took the best shot the upstart Falcons could deliver and battled back to avenge a bitter overtime loss in September.
The Saints have enjoyed a lot of great wins in the Sean Payton-Drew Brees era, but few were more hard-fought or meaningful than this one.
The Saints not only secured a playoff berth -- their third in the past five seasons -- they also kept alive their slim hopes to earn a first-round postseason bye and the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.
As road wins go, it ranks with the best in Saints history, right there with the 2006 win in Dallas, the 2000 shocker in St. Louis and the 1987 landmark victory in Pittsburgh.
The Falcons had won an NFL-high eight consecutive games and, at 12-2, were working their way toward one of the best records in the club's 45-year history. They'd already vanquished three potential playoff teams -- the Ravens, Packers and Buccaneers -- at the Georgia Dome this season.

Another person we interviewed also fro Ohio told us that he always make sure that quotes are included in his gifts during the New Year, “I givr cakes and other items to my relatives during New Year’s eve and I always remember to put some New Year’s quotes on them every time. Why? The answer is simple, because quotes serves as a guide for our life. That is why they are important.”

Drew Brees Scar Isn’t a Scar at All – It’s a…

IOS 018080 Drew Brees Scar Isnt a Scar at All Its a...

Although Drew Brees is mostly known for donning a big Saints helmet where his face is pretty much hidden, the marking on his cheek still makes people wonder where, when and how it got there. But while most people think it’s a scar, it isn’t a scar at all. Rather, it is a…birthmark. He reportedly had surgery a couple of years ago to try to have it removed but it just made it a bit smaller and still left a mark. This was a birthmark he was born with and with all his appearances and endorsement deals, he is probably more attentive to it then he was before. But his real magic isn’t from his appearance, it’s the great stuff that he does on the field that really makes headlines.

Afridi chose to field first and made New Zealand to bat in the second match of the three match series at Seddon Park at Hamilton on Tuesday.

This match is very crucial for Pakistan after it lost the first match against New Zealand on Sunday.
After several hours of heavy rain which cleared a few hours before the scheduled evening start in Hamilton, Shahid had no hesitation in making New Zealand bat first under overcast skies and with a damp outfield.

Pakistan have made one change from the first match with Asad Shafiq coming in for middle-order batsman Fawad Alam.

New Zealand have stood down their two debutants from the opening game, Adam Milne and Dean Brownlie, and brought in all-rounder Luke Woodcock for his debut and new-ball bowler Ian Butler.

Saints vs. Falcons: Drew Brees Steals Matt Ryan's Georgia Dome Thunder

ATLANTA -- The New Orleans Saints were not going to give up their NFC South crown without a fight. The Saints (11-4) came into the Georgia Dome on Monday night, where the Atlanta Falcons have managed to pull out one close win after another, and beat the Falcons 17-14.

Atlanta (12-3) is in the playoffs, but the Falcons will have to wait until next week's game with the Carolina Panthers to win and claim the division title. New Orleans (11-4) secured a wild card berth with the victory and they did it with a defense that stymied the Falcons attack in the second half.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees took his team 90 yards in 13 plays for the go-ahead touchdown, a 6-yard pass to tight end Jimmy Graham with 3:24 to play.

It was just the second home loss for Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan in three seasons.

Early, there was a nasty culture to the game, which was expected given the comments from Atlanta receiver Roddy White during the week. He called the Saints the "Aints" and it caused a storm.

The convoy of a leading Haitian presidential candidate came under attack from gunmen, the candidate's sister said Tuesday.

"We just cannot believe it. It's unbelievable. We're still in shock," said Rita Celestin-Rancy, a sister of Jude Celestin, who was traveling with her brother's 20-vehicle convoy to the southern city of Jeremie when they came under fire near Beaumont.

Celestin-Rancy said one person was killed and another wounded. Police did not return calls from CNN.

Campaign manager Joseph Flambert called into Haiti's Radio Caraibes to say the convoy retreated after a "hail of bullets."

WASHINGTON: George Bush, who took America into two wars, backed ''waterboarding'' of terrorism suspects, was labelled a racist by a black entertainer over his response to Hurricane Katrina and went against his belief in the free market to bail out Wall Street, says he hopes that his presidency will ultimately be judged a success.

But he does not expect to be around to learn the verdict.

''I'm gonna be dead … when they finally figure it out,'' he said in his first major interview in almost two years. But he added that he was comfortable simply knowing that ''I gave it my all, that I love America and that I know it's an honour to serve''.

Mr Bush was speaking on the eve of the release of his memoirs, Decision Points, in which he documents key moments in his life, from the time he quit drinking alcohol at age 40 to when he sent troops to Afghanistan and Iraq.

The book also reveals that America's 43rd president flirted with the idea of attacking Iran's nuclear facilities, according to The Guardian, which obtained an advance copy of the book.

''I directed the Pentagon to study what would be necessary for a strike,'' Mr Bush writes, before adding: ''This would be to stop the bomb clock, at least temporarily.''
