In the Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva bout last night at UFC 125, Vera wound up with a broken nose and displayed a disturbingly broken spirit. At the pre-fight press conference, Brandon “The Truth” Vera made a big deal out of how he has lost his arrogance and now gives full respect to the fighters he gets into the cage with. Unfortunately, it appeared last night that his loss of arrogance was just another way of saying he is no longer fearless. When Thiago Silva got him down on the mat, Vera spent more time protecting his face from strikes than he did fighting back.
